Commission a bespoke stone sculpture

Bespoke stone sculpture commissions

Stone has a presence that no other material can match; tactile and timeless. A bespoke stone sculpture brings a distinct sense of character and story to your home or garden. Commissioning a piece allows you to bring your own vision to life through craftsmanship that will stand for decades, if not centuries – enduring weather, time and generations of enjoyment.

A commissioned sculpture allows us to shape something personal together: a piece that carries the stillness, grace and essence of the natural world, created especially for the place where it will live. Whether the work is to mark a moment in time, enrich a beloved garden, or simply bring a sense of calm presence to a home, each commission becomes a conversation between your story, my hands, and the material itself.

Every carving begins slowly, thoughtfully—an idea forming in pencil lines, then in stone, in the steady rhythm of the chisel. What emerges is a piece that feels settled and timeless, grounded in nature yet refined in its detail. A sculpture to be touched, to be lived with, to be returned to.

An introduction to bespoke work

Commissioning a piece with me is a held and considered process, rather than a collaborative design exercise.

first step

We begin by talking about intention, place, and what the work is being asked to hold. This might be connected to a particular landscape, memory, animal essence, or moment of change. These conversations matter deeply, and they shape how I approach the work.

focus

I work on one piece at a time, carving slowly and allowing the form to emerge through staying. I take responsibility for the shape, proportion and final presence of the work, so it can arrive settled, whole, and true to its nature.

carving

At times, I may share an early sketch or small maquette. This is not a proposal to refine or approve, but a way of showing how I am listening at the beginning. Once carving begins, it moves out of discussion and into direct conversation with the stone.

partnership

The collaboration in this process is found in intention and trust, rather than in deciding form together. This allows the work to remain open long enough to become what it needs to be.

Each commission is made with attention, patience, and respect for material, place, and time. Pieces are completed when they are ready, not rushed towards an outcome.

  • “It is wondrous to behold how sculpted fur and feather take on warmth and flight in her hands”

  • “The beauty of the lines, the softness of the curves are all sprinkled with sensitive emotion. This is remarkable.”

If this way of working feels right to you, I’d be glad to begin a conversation.
