Short-tailed Bird
Polyphant (Cornish Soapstone) – 7″ x 5″ x 5″
Fossil remains suggest that we have such a variety of birds due, millions of years ago, to them losing their long, bony tails. This seems to have allowed talons, stilts and other amazing varieties of hind limbs to evolve. This little stone bird has what is left of that long tail – a short tail.
Short-tailed Bird is a small sculpture made for Winterlude – an online exhibition curated by Art Connections.
