Sitting Fox
Sitting Fox sculpture carved in Hazeldean Sandstone – 10″ x 7″ x 15″
My first close sighting of a Fox took me by surprise. I was returning from a lovely walk on the moor, the path leading to a close-cropped grass area, flanked by steep rising slopes of Autumn coloured bracken. It was from one of these thickets that the Fox leapt – almost straight up in the air, catching the tail of a passing pigeon, which was flustered but unharmed. Both were out of sight in a flash, leaving just a few pale feathers as evidence of what had just happened only yards from where I stood.
A little glimpse of Fox, alluringly beautiful and entrancingly wild – an encounter I’ll never forget.
