Frog sculpture carved in Yorkstone

Frog sculpture

On all the occasions I’ve held a frog in my hand, usually rescuing one from the road, or taking one outside that has hopped into the house, I’ve been astonished by the feel of its skin and the squishiness of its body.  Also surprising has been its strength in trying to get away from me, often squeezing through my fingers and leaping before I’m ready to release it.

I sought to represent this soft sided feel and spring potential in my frog sculpture, carved in Yorkstone.

I have a bit of a soft spot for frogs, so they feature from time to time in my carving

Thanks Ellen – I’ve loved hearing all about your frogs, who seem much more athletic than this one!
