October Fair
There’s a colourful, bold image on the front of the Affordable Art Fair’s brochure – a vivid pink lady with hoops and balls. It made me smile, it was a craze when I was young and I remember trying to be good at keeping the hoop up around my middle, wiggling and swaying to maintain the circling motion. ‘Add a Splash of Art’ it says.
One of the great things about the Fair is the scope and mix of original art – a huge range of paintings, prints, photography and sculpture – over one hundred galleries, each representing their own group of artists, all with individual interpretations and styles.
My stone sculpture is being shown at the Fair by Jack Fine Art, Helmsley, alongside a selection of the gallery’s other artists.

we have similar shows here. SOFA for one which is Sculptural Objects and Functional Art. no paintings at this show. there are other art fairs for ‘fine art’. we had our work shown at SOFA three years in a row by a gallery that dropped us when the big crash came and I haven’t found a new gallery yet that would take out=r work to that show. haven’t been trying all that hard. it sort of demoralized me and I’m not making as much work now as I did back then. it took all my time and I missed doing things with the grandkids and gardening. I was sort of single minded back then. not so much now.
