Dabchick
Dabchick bird sculpture carved in Yorkstone – 10″ x 6″ x 5 1/2″
The Little Grebe, or Dabchick as it is also known, is a compact and captivating water-bird with a sharp, thin beak. It is found in marshes, ponds and lakes, expertly diving for its underwater food, such as small fish, molluscs, insects and tadpoles.
Its behaviour and character drew my attention and inspired this carving in a beautiful piece of Yorkshire sandstone.
