Open Studio – nearly ready

My workshop

My workshop – nearly ready for Open Studios – don’t worry if you’re visiting, you won’t get stung, I’ve weeded the nettles

Just returned from a lovely meeting of local artists participating in North Yorkshire Open Studios – to wish each other all the best for the opening weekends and to top-up with brochures and gather cards and information.  It is lovely to hear about everyone’s preparation and there’s a real feeling of excitement.

I love opening my workshop.  In these few days before the start of the Open Studios weekends, there’s a great sense of anticipation and a little nervousness too.  I’m wanting to display my work to its best, and show it off, and this in turn gives a great sense of pride.  My workshop is  shelter for personal inspiration, home to powerful creative endeavour,  a working place and site of action.  It feels rather special to share it and open it up to you all.

One of the main reasons why it is such a good experience for me is due to the wonderful feedback from visitors, the ooh’s and aaah’s and wows, the generous comments and appreciative looks,  the sensitivity and insight.  I can’t tell you how this fills me up with energy and confidence – it lasts me all year until you come again!  I love your visits.

If you’re making your way to see me over the weekends of June 7th -8th and June 14th-15th, 2014  I’m thanking you in advance (in case I forget on the day due to the excitements), because you make me a very happy sculptor, through your support, comments, purchases, questions, talk and coming to look at the art I create.

PS:  In case I forget this too – I have a ‘Do Touch’ policy – so feel free to say hello to pieces personally if you would like to!
